Me and my boyfriend are saving up to take our first WDW trip together in May of 2010. However, we won't be able to pay for everything until about March of 2010. Should I worry about reservations at our hotel, and dinners? Or will I be most likely be fine?

Hi Rita! Planning your first trip is very exciting!

While the rates and packages for 2010 haven't been released yet, you can book a room-only reservation up to 499 days in advance if you'd like. When making a room-only reservation you only have to put down a deposit of one nights lodging plus tax. You won't be able to do this on-line, but you can do it over the phone by calling 407-W-DISNEY (407-934-7639).

The packages and room rates for 2010 are usually announced in mid to late summer. When these are announced, you can always change your room-only reservation to a package by calling the same number.

Here are some important things to keep in mind regarding paying for your trip.

    • If you book a room-only reservation, you pay the one night plus tax up front, but the balance won't be due until you check in at your resort. You can pay it ahead of time if you'd like, but you don't have to.
    • If you book a package, you will have to put a $200 deposit down to make your reservation. The balance is due and must be paid in full 45 days before your arrival date.
    • You can call Disney at any time and make a payment towards your trip. As long as everything is paid in full either 45 days in advance or upon your arrival, you'll be good to go!

I personally like the vacation packages that include the resort, theme park tickets and dining plan. It's nice to know that most of our meals are paid for in advance and then I just have to budget for gratuities and extras like souvenirs.

I hope this helps you! Please come back and ask us any more questions that you may have as you plan your first vacation to Disney World!
