My boyfriend and I are planning our first trip to Disney World and I'm a little overwhelmed with how much Disney has to offer. What is the best way to go about planning a trip to Disney for timers?

    Hi, Erin!

It's your first trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth!  How exciting!  You certainly are correct that the Walt Disney World Resort has A LOT to offer.  I know it can seem a little overwhelming at first, but that's what the Disney Parks Moms Panel is here for.  We are happy to help you sort everything out so that you can plan a vacation that is practically perfect in every way.

The first thing I would recommend is to do your resEARch.  There are some great online planning tools that I think you may find helpful.  Also, do some exploring on the Walt Disney World Resort website and read about the theme parks.  Learning about the attractions and entertainment offerings that can be found at each park will help you get an idea of your own personal "must-dos."  Don't forget to also look into all of the great restaurants throughout the Walt Disney World Resort to see what you might be interested in when it comes to dining.  Follow the Disney Parks Blog and read as much about the Walt Disney World Resort as you can while you get ready for your vacation.  Then when you arrive, you'll know what to expect.

If you have yet to book your vacation package, you'll need to decide where you want to stay and the length of your trip.  I would highly recommend staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel so that you can take advantage of the many benefits of staying right in the middle of the magic.  Once your vacation is booked, be sure to set up your My Disney Experience account and link your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel reservation and theme park tickets to your account.  You'll also want to download the My Disney Experience mobile app.

The next thing you'll need to think about is making your dining reservations.  Reservations for table-service restaurants are strongly encouraged, and you can begin making them 180 days before your arrival.  When you get a little closer to your trip, you will need to think about making your FastPass+ selections.  FastPass+ selections can be made 60 days prior to check-in if you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, or 30 days before your arrival if you are staying elsewhere.

Those are the basics of planning your first Walt Disney World Resort vacation.  If you have specific questions about any of this information or if there is anything else that you need help with, please don't hesitate to ask.  There's nothing my fellow Panelists and I enjoy more than sharing our knowledge and love of all things Disney!

    Have a magical day!
    Samantha
