    Sarah Asked

I bought magic bands in Orlando in october 2018 and am going to Los Angeles in May this year. Can I still use these bands?

    Hello, Sarah!

My family recently received a magical shipment of MagicBands. We are feeling so excited about our upcoming vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. I understand the excitement these magical accessories may bring for any Disney Parks vacation.

However, MagicBands are not used for theme park admission or other purposes at the Disneyland Resort in California. Though, if you fancy wearing your MagicBands in California, you are certainly welcome to do so. These fun accessories are not commonly sighted around the Disneyland Resort. Though I do occasionally see them hanging from a Guest’s backpack or as a colorful accessory upon a Guest’s wrist.

Guests of the Disneyland Resort may choose to follow traditional ways of using paper tickets and Disney FASTPASS distribution points throughout the theme parks. However, it is becoming more common for Guests to adopt new digital experiences at the Disneyland Resort. For example, theme park tickets may be linked with your My Disneyland account within the Disneyland app. Your mobile device may then be used for theme park admission and for redeeming Disney FASTPASS selections.

If you purchase the Disney MaxPass add-on to your theme park tickets, you may enjoy the added benefits of being able to make FASTPASS selections from the convenience of your mobile device. MaxPass also enables Guests to potentially make FASTPASS selections more frequently. And Disney MaxPass also includes unlimited downloads of your Disney PhotoPass photos for each day you use MaxPass with your tickets.

Disneyland Resort mobile magic doesn’t end there. Disneyland Resort Guests may download and use the same Play Disney Parks that is usable at the Walt Disney World Resort. Similar activities are available at the Disneyland Resort as well, including games, trivia, music (on some devices), and more. Play Disney Parks even includes the out-of-this-world Star Wars: Datapad for use during your visit to the planet Batuu.

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Sarah. I hope you’ll stop by again with any other questions you may have.
