When booking your own Disney World resort and Cruise combo, how does Disney purchased transportation work? Can I depart for the cruise from my resort location? Or would I have to take the Magical Express back to the airport, then use the cruise bus?

No need to return to the airport!

In January, our family booked our WDW resort and cruise vacation separately. We stayed at the Boardwalk Resort pre-cruise and spent one night post-cruise at the Caribbean Beach Resort.

On our sailing day, we met the Disney Cruise Line representative inside the Boardwalk Resort. We were then escorted out to the DCL bus.

Upon our return to Port Canaveral, we were headed back to WDW so the DCL bus took us to the Caribbean Beach Resort. However, if you have a flight out, you'll take the Disney Cruise bus to the airport. Therefore, you'll only need a one-way Magical Express voucher (airport to your resort) and then a round-trip Disney Cruise Line voucher (resort to Port and then Port to airport).

Disney's Magical Express service is complimentary. DCL ground transportation is very convenient but the cost is currently $69 per person. Large families may want to consider a one way car rental or a town car service. Check out mousesavers.com for cost-saving ideas!
