When booking a Disney cruise , is it best to book with a category guarantee, and how does it affect your options of selecting a cabin or the possibility of an upgrade?

    Ahoy, Melissa!
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! It looks like you are planning a cruise during the Very MerryTime sailings this December! You will instantly be in the holiday spirit when you enter the gorgeous Grand Lobby Atrium and see all the twinkling lights, the beautifully decorated 24-foot tree and life-sized Gingerbread House. Disney always does an amazing job when it comes to the holidays!
I'm glad you asked this question before you booked because guarantee reservations can be confusing. When you select a category guarantee, you will not be assigned a stateroom number at the time of booking. In fact, it could be two weeks prior to your cruise departure before you know your actual room number. This allows Disney to place you in any stateroom in the category that you've booked. I've booked a guarantee once, and we did get a one category upgrade when our stateroom number was assigned. This is not the norm, but can happen on occasion. If you don't mind where Disney places you on the ship, this is a great option. If you have your heart set on a particular spot on the ship like a specific deck or location (forward, midship or aft) than selecting your stateroom number is an important piece to the booking process. The one thing to remember is Disney Cruise Line has some of the most spacious staterooms at sea, so your accommodations are going to be very comfortable and beautifully appointed no matter what you select.
I hope I've steered you in the right direction, Melissa! Please let us know if you have any additional questions about your Disney Cruise! We are excited for you to embark on your enchanted journey this December!
    Have a magical day!
