I just booked our WDW vacation for April 16-24, 2011. After reading over numerous posts here I ran across a post saying that the time we are going is a "light" time. Is that true? It's our Easter break so I was expecting it to be a heavy traff

Hi, Kevin!  The end of April is often a time when many schools have wrapped up their spring breaks, and crowds can start to thin out for a few weeks up until the Memorial Day weekend holiday.  However, in 2011, Easter comes a little bit later, and doesn't fall until April 24th.  This is probably going to mean heavier than normal crowds during the week that you are going.

While many colleges take their spring breaks earlier in the season, there are quite a few elementary, middle, and high schools that base their spring breaks on when Easter falls.  Our school is off the Thursday and Friday before, as well as the week after Easter.  Other schools have off the same week you do, leading up to Easter Sunday.

If you go into the week expecting heavier traffic, you can prepare to deal with the crowds.  Use Fast Pass whenever you can to help alleviate some of the wait times, and make sure to book advanced dining reservations at any of the restaurants you don't want to miss.  If you can dine at off peak times, you may benefit a little bit by finding lines for attractions a little lighter during peak meal times.  Also, you can often find things a little easier to get on during the parades and the fireworks.

    Have a wonderful vacation!
