Hello! I booked a vacation for April and we can make dinning reservations in October. We are going with another family. How would we be able to make dinning reservations together if we did not book at the same time? Is this possible?

Hi, Melissa!  Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Dining at Walt Disney World Resort is one of my favorite topics!  One of the first things my family does when we plan a Walt Disney World Resort vacation is decide which dining locations we would like to visit.  I am getting hungry for Mickey waffles and Dole Whip just thinking about it!

Dining reservations for Table-Service restaurants throughout Walt Disney World Resort are strongly recommended and can be made 180 days in advance.  I am so glad to hEAR that you are already thinking about making your dining reservations for your upcoming trip.  You can book your dining reservations by logging into your My Disney Experience account on your computer, using the My Disney Experience mobile app, or by calling and speaking to a Dining Reservations Cast Member.

Since you are traveling with another family, you will want to link everyone in your travel party to your My Disney Experience Family & Friends List.  To do this, go to the "My Profile" section of your My Disney Experience account, click on "Family & Friends List," and then click "Add a Guest."  From there, you can enter the name and age of another member of your party, then invite them to connect with you.

Once your party is connected in My Disney Experience, you will be able to make all of your plans together, including dining reservations and FastPass+ selections.  However, if you do not get this taken care of before your 180-day dining reservation window opens, don't worry.  As long as you have the total number of guests, that is all you really need when making your dining reservations.  For example, if you have four people on your trip reservation and the other family has four people on their trip reservation, you may make a dining reservation for eight people.  Your dining reservations can include additional guests who are not part of your vacation package.

When it is time to make your dining reservations, I would highly recommend a character dining experience.  They are so much fun!  Chef Mickey's and Storybook Dining at Artist Point with Snow White are two of my family's favorites.  Walt Disney World Resort also offers a wide variety of delicious signature dining restaurants.  The view at California Grill is nothing short of magical!
