Just booked our very first cruise for the week before Christmas on The Wonder!! Traveling with my husband and 6 year old son and I see there are two choices for dinner seatings. What dinner seating do you recommend?

    Ahoy, Julie!

It really will be the most "WONDER"ful time of year when you set sail on your very first cruise aboard the Disney Wonder next December! You've chosen a fantastic time to set sail because extra pixie dust will be flying during your Very Merrytime Cruise. Imagine twinkling white lights, gorgeous garland, a three-deck tall Christmas tree and a life-sized Gingerbread House and that's just the Grand Lobby Atrium! There will be other holiday touches and special events planned so you'll cruise right into Christmas enjoying the spirit of the season at sea!

One distinctive feature to Disney Cruise Line is the rotational dining experience. Each night you'll rotate to three different dining venues each uniquely themed and showcasing Disney's attention to detail. Your servers will rotate with you, and you'll enjoy getting to know each other as the cruise progresses. Dining time is a personal preference, as some families like to eat early while others like having a little longer to enjoy the day and choose to eat later. When my children were younger, we always requested the first seating, which is typically around 5:45 p.m. This was much earlier than we ever ate at home so it did take some getting use to the first couple of nights. If you select the earlier seating, you will see the nightly show after dinner at 8:30 p.m., and they typically run about an hour. Second dinner Guests see the show first at 6:15 p.m. and eat around 8:15 p.m. Guests with second seating can take advantage of what Disney calls "Dine and Play." This program brings the youth counselors to the dining rooms about an hour after dinner starts to collect any kids ages 3-12 who want to check-in to the youth programming while the parents finish dinner. If you decide to do this, just let your servers know and they will expedite your son's meal. We love this option!
