We have booked a family vacation for May 2019, after my husband gets home from deployment! Although this will not be my first time, it will be his and my 2 y/o daughter's! What are some fun things to do with a young child? Also, what should we avoid?

    Hi, there!

Oh, Hannah - this is all super exciting. A much anticipated homecoming and a first visit to the Walt Disney World Resort? With so much to celebrate, and I know you'll have a magical stay!

I'm pleased to tell you that there are lots of fun things to experience with your little one! Here are my top must-do's for families traveling with toddlers.

    • Check out all the family-friendly attractions in the theme parks. These attractions are perfect for all ages and do not feature height restrictions. A few of my toddlers' favorites have been Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Peter Pan's Flight, "it's a small world," The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Frozen Ever After, The Seas with Nemo & Friends, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Na'vi River Journey, and Toy Story Mania!
    • Book a few Character Dining Experiences. I love these meals because I know my kiddos will eat well AND get the chance to visit with their favorite Disney Characters. What could be better than that? Since your daughter is under the age of 3, she can eat for free at buffets like Chef Mickey's and The Crystal Palace!
    • Take in a few perfect-for-tots shows like Festival of the Lion King and the all-new Disney Junior Dance Party!

In terms of what to avoid, be sure to avoid crowds! I don't know about your daughter, but mine doesn't wait well. Arrive to the theme parks first thing in the morning to take advantage of low standby waits, and don't forget to use FastPass+ for exceptionally popular attractions.

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Hannah. We thank you and your family for your service!
