We are booked on the Dream and I'm wondering about dinner seating times. Travelling with a 6 yr old (his b'day will be on board!). We don't want to feel rushed but we don't want our son too tired either. Any thoughts? Thank you!

    Ahoy, Nicole!

You are going to love dining aboard the Disney Dream! Disney Cruise Line sets itself apart in many ways and their rotational dining is a big one. Each night you'll be in a different venue with its own unique theming accompanied by the same amazing wait staff. They will get to know your preferences and personalize your experience each evening. This experience differs from a regular restaurant because serving families is their specialty. They will bring out a kids' menu to keep your son busy and may also entertain him with some games.

I'm not sure which seating you have selected for your sailing, but I'm going to assume it's second since you are concerned about being rushed and a sleepy sailor! When my kids were younger, I was always surprised at how late they could stay up when we cruised. Most nights were late nights because they did not want to miss anything at the youth clubs. When we changed to second seating, we started utilizing the "Dine and Play" program. This program, only offered during second seating, allows any child (3-12) to leave dinner early to check-in to the Oceaneer Club and Lab while the parents finish dinner. It's very easy to participate, so here are the details if you think it might be a good option for your son. When you sit down at dinner, let your servers know that your son will be participating in "Dine and Play." They will expedite his meal, and he can go with the youth counselors once they arrive around 9:00 to 9:15 p.m. You won't miss them because of their bright yellow shirts! This will hopefully take care of not feeling rushed during dinner.

I hope your son has the most magical birthday at sea! Be sure to have his birthday noted on your reservation so he can have a special treat delivered at dinner. And pick up a birthday button at Guest Services for him to wear for the entire cruise!
