will book for sept 17-24, 2014. How far in advance can I make the reservations? Also, about when will the military discounts be announced? Thanks for your help. This is our 29th visit to WDW and you have never let me down! You do great work!

    Hi, Penny!

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I’m so glad to hear you’re planning your next trip to the Walt Disney World Resort, and I hope your 29th visit is just as magical as your first!

You can reserve accommodations at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel up to 499 days in advance by calling (407) W-DISNEY (934-7639). Keep in mind that you can currently book rooms through the Walt Disney World website for check-in dates up to and including Dec. 31, 2013 only, so you must call to reserve dates in 2014 rather than book online. As of now, you’ll only be able to reserve a hotel room, not packages that include extras like park tickets or the Disney Dining Plan, for dates in 2014. You will be reserving your room at the 2013 rates, but when the rates and package details for 2014 are released (typically in the late summer) your rate will be automatically adjusted to reflect the current prices. You can also make a room-only reservation to be converted into a vacation package after next year’s rates are announced.  So, feel free to call now to secure your desired vacation dates.

The resort hasn’t offered a permanent military discount for tickets or hotel prices in the recent past, but rather long promotions (spanning several months) instead. While the current promotion available to active and retired U.S. military personnel does end in September of this year, a new offer could be announced very shortly after, so be sure to check the Special Offers page on the Walt Disney World Resort website to see if military discounts on park tickets and resort hotel stays become available for the dates of your visit.

I hope this helps, Penny. Please feel free to write back with any other questions you may have as you continue to plan!

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
