If I book a 7-night stay at a Disney resort, then after I've stayed 4 nights, can I add DDP to the remaining 3 nights? How do I do it?

    Hi Kathy,

Unfortunately what you're suggesting isn't an option with the Disney Dining Plan.

All Disney Dining Plan purchases must be made at least three days prior to your arrival at Walt Disney World, so there's no way to add the Dining Plan in the middle of your trip. Additionally, if you purchase the Dining Plan, you have to do so for the entirety of your stay. With one reservation, you can't have some days on the Plan and some days not.

There is a workaround you can use to get what you want. If you want to have no Plan for four days and then have the Dining Plan for three days, you can do this by booking two separate hotel stays back to back. Make a reservation for a four day trip without the Plan, and then make a different reservation for a three day trip with the Plan starting the next day. You can do this at the same hotel or a different hotel. This is called a split stay. If you wish to do this, you'll have to be sure to add the Dining Plan to the second reservation well before you arrive at Disney World. You can do this when you make the reservation, or you can add it later by calling 1-407-934-7639 and speaking with a reservation agent.

There are a few other things to consider when planning a split stay such as luggage transfer and transportation. You may find a blog post on the independent website Touring Plans helpful.
