When are the black out dates?

    Hi Shari,

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Many guests are a bit confused by the blockout dates at Walt Disney World, so I'm happy to help.

The blockout dates generally apply to certain annual passes available to Florida residents like me. In exchange for great deals on annual passes, we give up access to the parks at some peak periods, which typically are the weeks closest to Christmas and Easter and, in the case of some passes, about two months in the summer when the parks and resorts are most popular. The blockout dates for each pass are listed on the page I linked above.

The Gold Pass for Florida residents is also available to Disney Vacation Club members and has blockout dates from April 8-21 and from December 18-January 2.

Unless you are a Florida resident or a DVC member annual passholder, blockout dates generally shouldn't be an issue for you. Occasionally, special offer tickets may have a few dates that are excluded but those will be clearly delineated when you purchase those tickets.

For example, the 4-Park Magic Ticket that is available for purchase through March 5, 2017, has blockout dates of April 10-21 and December 17-January 2.

I hope that helps, Shari. Please let us know if you need more information or if you have other questions about planning your Walt Disney World vacation.

    Enjoy,
