How big of a suitcase should I get for the kids? We're staying 8 nights and want to get them their own Disney themed rolling bags for Christmas.

    Hi, Christina!

Disney themed luggage sounds like such a fun Christmas idea! Not only will it be a fun gift, but quite practical. My daughter has a suitcase she got from Disney, and she has been using it for years. Very durable and easy to identify at baggage carousels at airports! You will find a huge selection of luggage at ShopDisney.com.

Before choosing a size, you may want to check with your favorite airlines for their luggage restrictions. This is especially important if you plan to do carry-on luggage as some airlines are quite strict with their policies. Also think about what your kids can handle. If they are still young, then an oversized 28" bag might be difficult for them to maneuver. You might want to pop into a local store and look at different sizes. Lift them up, roll them around by the handle and see what feels good.

Even on longer trips like you have planned, generally each member of my family packs a suitcase (21" or 22" size) and a backpack. I always tell them if they have more than that then they are over packing! Some items (hoodies or jeans) I have my kids get more than one wear before washing. If you do get in a bind and run out of clean clothes during your vacation, Walt Disney World Resort hotels have laundry rooms available. If I need to toss in a load, I do this during an afternoon pool break so it does not interfere with our plans.

I hope you find the perfect suitcases for your kids, and maybe even one for your yourself! Hey, Moms like fun luggage, too!
