What is the big difference between the original and the new tamer side of Mission: Space?

On both versions of Mission Space you're part of a crew that helps land a space capsule on the planet Mars. You are strapped into a flight simulator vehicle that has a projector near your face, showing you the conditions in space and on Mars. As you "fly" your simulator tips you up and down and side to side, as if you were being propelled at high velocity. At various points during your "mission" you will be asked to complete various tasked to help the crew proceed: pushing various buttons or "steering" the ship. All of this is part of both versions of the ride.

In addition to the above, on the original version, your ride vehicle is also rapidly spinning on a giant centrifuge. So, while you are being twisted and turned, you are also being spun very (very, very) quickly. This simulates the actual G-forces that you would encounter on an actual space launch. There really are airsick bags as part of the standard equipment of this ride.

I must confess that while I have done the tame version of Mission Space several times, I have not been brave enough for the spinning version. I have seen MANY green people at the exit to this ride. Whether that's from motion sickness or from a Martian encounter, I don't know for sure, but I do know that I'm not ready to find out ;-)
