Can bicycles be used as transportation at Fort Wilderness?

    Hi Steve!

The Fort Wilderness Resort is the largest, land wise, resort on property so getting around it has several options. You can rent a golf cart, use the internal buses, walk, or use a bicycle. Many guests bring their own bicycles to use during their stay. They are expected to be ridden on the sidewalks so you must be aware of all pedestrian guests and take caution for yourself and for them. Obey the rules of crossing the streets and you can enjoy some great biking.

You will find bike racks at both the marina and also the main bus depot at the front of the resort. I strongly recommend you bring a simple bike lock with you and lock your bike when you park it. Some guests have found that their bikes have been mistaken and taken by others which gets confusing. Bike rentals are also available from the Bike Barn but that is only on a daily basis. Bikes must be returned by 5pm each evening.

My husband and I bring our bikes and really enjoy biking to the Wilderness Lodge using the paved path that connects the two resorts. We love to look for wildlife along the way. Biking is a must for us when we stay at Fort Wilderness. Enjoy!
