Which is the better resort to stay at with small children (1 and 3 yrs) the Wilderness lodge or the Contemporary? We like the look of the Wilderness lodge however we are wondering about the monorail? Any suggestions would be great.

Hi Susan!  I love the Contemporary resort myself but if I had to select one that was better for children I would go with the Wilderness Lodge.  It is true you aren't on the monorail but you do have boat access to the Magic Kingdom and Fort Wilderness.  Buses will take you to all other locations.

The Contemporary feel is a bit more of a convention feel and the lobby is small with a colder feeling. Wilderness Lodge is open and large and warm with the center being the great lodge fireplace.  Kids can run around and have fun (with parental direction of course) and drop a penny or two in the stream and hot springs that is at the far end.  The outside area is lush with landscape and the pool is a fun spot with slide and activities going on daily.  Old Faithful will erupt "faithfully" and you can all head to the marina to rent the water sprites or pontoon boats or fish.  If you are feeling energetic take the hike to Fort Wilderness and enjoy the activities there such as pony rides, horseback, canoeing, kayaking, and the Disney stables.  You can end your day by getting a reservation for the great dinner show, Hoop De Doo!

You can drop the family off at the pool and head over to the spa located in the Wilderness Lodge villa area.  This would be a great way for you to relax and spend an hour or two for some rest and pampering for yourself!
