Where is a better place to stay next May for a family of 7, Poly or the Animal Kingdom Lodge?

    Hi Craig,

You are considering two wonderful resorts. Let me go through what I think are some of the benefits at each.

Disney's Polynesian Resort is absolutely classic. It is beautiful, has an amazing pool area, and the location is wonderful. You can even watch the fireworks at Magic Kingdom from the beach at night! You are a monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom, and a quick monorail switch then takes you to Epcot. For location, I think that Disney's Polynesian Resort is great. You can also quickly access both Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa as well as Disney's Contemporary Resort by monorail, which opens up many more options in terms of dining. The issue that I think you might have at the Polynesian is that the largest room sleeps five guests - so you would need to get two rooms.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of my absolute favorite resorts. I love the rich, dark, detailed decor. To be able to see animals such as giraffes and zebras outside of the resort windows is incomparable. I love the range of dining options at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, many of which feature African-inspired cuisine. Most of the rooms at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge sleep four guests, with a couple of options for suites which sleep six or eight guests. My recommendation is that you consider a villa at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo House or Kidani Village. Both of these offer two-bedroom villas which can sleep up to nine guests and would be great for your family. The biggest issue that I can see at any of Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge properties is that they are geographically removed from the theme parks. You must take a bus to get to any theme park, and the rides can be a little longer than from other resorts.

I hope that these thoughts give you some ideas about where to choose for your Disney vacation, Craig. Have a great time planning, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
