What is the best way to get from Wilderness Lodge to the Polynesian? Staying at WL,want to see Torch Lighting at Poly at 6. Have ressies at Whispering Canyon at 6:45. Would we have time to get back for our 6:45 reservation? Love this panel -Thx!

    Hi Jennifer!

The Torch Lighting Ceremony is WAY cool. It starts inside near the ground-level entrance of the Great Ceremonial House (the main building), and then moves outside where a fire dancer puts on an incredible show.

(I should mention that it's not performed on Sundays or Mondays)

You have a few options for getting to the Polynesian from the Wilderness Lodge:

#1 - Take a boat from the Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom, then take the Monorail on the Resort Loop to the Polynesian.

#2 - Take a boat from the Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom, then take the boat that goes to the Grand Floridian and Polynesian (it'll be the second stop).

#3 - Have a cast member from the bell services desk at the Wilderness Lodge hail a taxi for you. When I've done this, I recall the fare being somewhere between $7-$10 each way.

Now, the big question is whether you'll be able to make it back to the Wilderness Lodge for your 6:45 dinner reservation at the Whispering Canyon Cafe. (Don't forget to ask for ketchup!)

If you have a cast member at the bell services desk at the Polynesian hail a taxi, you'll have no problem making it back in time. I don't like to worry about time when I'm on vacation, so that would be the way I'd go if I were in your shoes.

If you'd rather avoid taxis, then your best bet would be to take the Monorail from the Polynesian to the Magic Kingdom, then take a boat to the Wilderness Lodge. (You might be cutting it close though!)

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

Try to watch the outside portion of the Torch Lighting Ceremony from somewhere near the bell services desk. That's the best vantage point to see all of the action!

I hope that helps! Please feel free to write back if you should have any additional questions and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
