What would be the best use of our time and your recommendations for our Travel in Day and Travel out day...we will have most of both days, but will not go into any of the parks on those days. Anything you would recommend for day 1 specifcally? Thanks.

    Hello, Lisa!

There is so much to do in Walt Disney World, even before you head into a park, so planning your arrival day is wise indeed.

If you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort, there is much to see, explore and enjoy right there. Take some time to find all that your resort has to offer; explore the shops, check out the menus, find the pool, etc. When you know what awaits you once you return "home" from a day in the parks, you'll be able to enjoy some great features that you might have otherwise overlooked. Consider packing a separate bag with your swimsuits and sunscreen, so that you can relax by the pool after your arrival. (This is actually one of our favorite activities on check-out day, too.)

Book a dinner reservation at a WDW resort. You can enjoy a leisurely dinner and explore that other resort, too. Consider something a little different, whether it be a character meal or something you just can't get at home. You can even catch a view of the Electrical Water Pageant or Wishes from certain venues near Magic Kingdom! Over in the Boardwalk area, there are shops, restaurants and nighttime entertainment, as well, all accessible without a park pass.

We also love spending an afternoon / evening at Downtown Disney, where you don't need a park ticket to enjoy shopping and dining options throughout the day. You could try your hand at mini-golf, too, while enjoying the magic tucked into every hole by Imagineers.

Send me another question including the resort at which you'll be staying and if there are any restaurants you'd like to explore. Add the date of arrival and we can find a great sample plan for a fantastic, fun-filled arrival day, all without a park pass!
