What is the best option for two families to communicate throughout the day? We do not own cellphones that work outside of Canada. We would like to coordinate parents with young kids and parents with older kids. We are staying at the All Music Resort.

Hi, Darlene! Without cell phones, the best option for your family would probably be walkie-talkies (also known as two-way radios).  When investing in some, be sure to check the range.  You will want the largest range you can afford to buy. Most of the radios have a two- or five- mile communication distance, which works perfectly within a theme park or resort, but it is not effective for communication between parks or resorts. You have a pair of radios, and you set them both to the same radio frequency channel. When you want to talk, you press a button, and the other radio beeps. Then they "pick up" and can talk to you. Once you pay for the radios, you're done with the expenses; there are no additional charges to talk as much as you want. Erin F., another Moms Panelist, gives these warnings: "Most of the time the radios did work for us. But we did consistently have two problems. First, I found that no matter what channel we chose, there was always someone else at the parks on our line. It was confusing to decipher if it was my husband trying to reach me or some stranger trying to reach his family.  Second, Disney is loud. Well, at least many of the rides are loud. If you're trying to reach someone while they're on a ride, even something as innocuous as Buzz Lightyear, they're probably not going to hear you." ALWAYS have a back-up plan in case communications fail. I hope this helps. Have a Magical vacation!
