what are your best birthday advice

    Hi Sandra,

My best bit of advice about celebrating a birthday at Walt Disney World is to think about the needs/interests of the person celebrating the birthday and then tailor the celebration specifically to them. For example, "a day at the spa" is a fairly typical gift for an adult woman, but I'm not really into spas, so that would be a waste for me. Instead, I've always coveted those giant Mickey-shaped balloons they sell on Main Street. Those would be the perfect gift for me. When my twins were six years old, they LOVED character dining experiences. For their 6th birthday, we booked three character meals in one day. They were beyond happy. So, think about what the birthday girl or boy's dreams are, and try to make a little slice of them come true.

As for the basics, you can grab a free "It's My Birthday" button at any theme park guest relations office or ticket window. Many resort front desks also have these. This won't get you any official perks, but it will get you lots of nice smiles and good wishes from cast members and other guests. If you'd like to have a cake sent to your resort or to a Walt Disney World restaurant, you can arrange this by calling the "Cake Hotline" at 407-827-2253. You can also have your room decorated by experts or have a gift or floral arrangement sent to your room by contacting the Disney Floral and Gift Department.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know if you have additional questions.
