What's the best way to beat the heat during the month of August? Is it really that hot?

    Hi there Arlien.

Since I live in North Carolina, to some extent I'm accustomed to the higher humidity levels that the Southeast tends to experience during the summer months. That being said, I don't find the temperatures unmanageable for visiting Walt Disney World in August as long as I plan in advance to make the most out of the cooler mornings and evenings. I always plan for a mid-day break in an air-conditioned table-service restaurant or return to my resort hotel for a swim in the pool (and perhaps a nap). That way, I keep my energy levels up and I can thoroughly enjoy every magical moment with my family.

One thing that can not be overstated is the need to drink plenty of water during a summer Disney vacation. If your hotel guest room offers a refrigerator, you might try freezing some water bottles to take with you into the theme parks. That way, your water will stay nice and chilly for a longer period of time and you'll save money on bottled drink purchases.

Lastly, don't forget to apply and reapply sunscreen and bring rain coats with you for those occasional afternoon pop up rain showers. I've found park touring in the rain to be a delightful way to cool off and there are typically shorter queue lines for the attractions!

Thanks so much for visiting us here at the Walt Disney World Moms Panel! Please feel free to send more questions my way in the days leading up to your August trip!
