Which would be the best bargain~~~buying travel packages that include meals or not~~~I'll be traveling with 3 kids 6-16, one of whom is a very picky eater. I'm 62 and pretty healthy and not particular but don't eat fried food.

I wish I could say there is an easy answer for your question, but unfortunately there really isn't.  If you ask 10 families how they feel about the Disney Dining Plan you're likely to get 10 different responses.  In my opinion, it depends on how your family likes to eat, and how you like to travel.  Some points to consider:

-Are you big eaters?  If you don't normally eat much, or don't have an appreciation for nice sit-down meals and would be content with a sandwich on the go then you may want to forgo it.  The plan holds value when you want to eat a table service meal every day (this includes character meals).  If you are not the type of family that would normally sit down to a big meal, then the plan could end up costing you more than paying cash as you go for counter service dining.

-Are you big schedulers?  If you are a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kinda gal, then you may not enjoy the dining plan.  Spontaneity is very hard to work with, as your table service meals really need to be planned out in advance.

For our family of food lovers and a mom that loves to iron out the details, the dining plan is a perfect fit.  I love having our meals pre-paid and pre-arranged, so on our vacation I have no worries about a wallet or a reservation to make - it's all in my handy little daily itinerary.

The best way I personally know to make that decision is to do a little research.  Review the dining section of the Disney website and decide what meals your family would like to experience, then visit allearsnet.com and read the menus section.  They have complete menus and pricing for all restaurants on Disney property.  Use that to get an idea of what you would be spending per day.  If it's more than what the dining plan costs (as ours is), then you've found your bargain - reserve the plan and enjoy!
