How beneficial is it to purchase the magic bands? Is a meal plan the best option? This will be my first time visiting Disney World, it'll be just my son and I. Any tips are helpful as well.

    Hi Rakjia,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! How exciting to plan your first trip!

First, let me give some general suggestions. Stay at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. Doing so will give you access to special benefits for resort guests. Your MagicBands will be complimentary - we love them! Resort guests also receive access to Extra Magic Hours - additional time in the theme parks. Also, you can make advanced dining reservations 180 days in advance for up to 10 days and you can make Fast Pass+ selections for attractions 60 days in advance. Be sure to book your vacation package well in advance so that you can make those dining reservations and Fast Pass+ selections right at the 180 and 60 day marks.

Given that it is just the two of you, the Disney Dining Plan would probably be your best option - we love this plan. It provides one quick-service and one table-service meal plus two snacks per night of stay along with a resort refillable mug. We find the plan to be a great value because it includes drinks with meals and dessert with lunch and dinner. The snack options and the resort refillable mugs are great also. We refill our mugs several times a day at the resort hotel. To estimate food costs without a dining plan, select a few restaurants you might enjoy and then, from each restaurant's home page, click on View Menu. Many restaurants, excluding buffet or family-style meals, include prices on the menu so you can get an idea of the cost. You can also call 407-939-1947 to get pricing for character meals at the time of your visit!

Rakjia, I am sending you pixie dust as you plan!

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
