If you are behind pace, how do you know that you are going to get pulled off? Do you get a warning? Desperately want to finish my first half marathon, but still not doing 16 min miles, closer to 17.5 or 18. Thanks!

    Welcome back, Amy!

There are some indicators on course you can look out for to help you identify if you have fallen behind the course's 16 minute mile pacing requirement (remember, the pacing clock will not begin until the very last runner, in the very last corral, crosses over the starting line).

The first indicator will be the "balloon ladies," a group of very nice, encouraging women that start each race as the very last runners and maintain a pace just a bit faster than a 16 minute mile - they actually run with balloons so they are very visible.

The most official indicator will be the runDisney Pace Bicyclists, these folks are on bikes and ride in the very, very back of the race. If they ride passed you, they will give a verbal warning that you are behind pace and that you have a certain amount of time to catch-up. Should the pace bikers still be in front of you at the next sweep point, you will be asked to exit the course and board a van or bus for transportation back to the finish line where you will receive your medal. This is where getting to the front of the corral will help put more distance between you and the "balloon ladies" and the pace bikes.

You are going to do great, Amy! If you are training in the 17-18 min mile range, race magic should help see you through to the finish line!
