I am beginning the planning phase of my mother and Aunts 60th Birthday trip to Disneyworld. There will be approx. 45 of us. We are looking to go in the fall/ winter of 2014. I could really use some help on where to start and when is the best time.

Wow, Jennifer, that is quite the group to celebrate with in one of the most magical places on Earth! Happy Birthday, first and foremost to your mom and Aunt! I'm sure they are going to enjoy turning 60 years YOUNG in the place where adults can be kids and never grow up!

The fall/winter is a great time to travel to Walt Disney World since it is a time when crowds are less frequent and the weather is much milder. Just keep in mind that during the Thanksgiving/Christmas holiday weeks, the crowds will spike in size. As long as you don't choose those specific weeks, you should be fine. Some weeks might be moderate in size for special events like the Wine and Dine Half-Marathon weekend (often occurring at the beginning of November, although the date for 2014 has not been determined).

The next step would be determining your lodging. One thing you might want to discuss with your group is whether or not you would like to all stay at the same resort or leave those accommodations up to the individual parties traveling within your large group.  This may or may not make planning this part of the trip easier. I would definitely suggest calling to make these reservations and speaking to a cast member. While booking online can often be hassle-free, this one-on-one personal service via phone may offer more choices or suggestions for a large party such as yours. You can call (407) 939-7211 for the Walt Disney Travel Company. They would be able to assist you in making the initial reservations or to link several separate reservations once those are made.

I would suggest that you speak to everyone going on the trip to get their input on resort choices as with that many people, budgets could vary among you and there are a wide variety of resorts that can accommodate all of you, from the budget conscious to those that would like to splurge a little!

I hope this can help you get started.
