We are beginning to plan our trip to Disney next January. 2 adults and 3 kids. I’m feeling a little overwhelmed with all choices and where to start. When should I actually start booking? Are there time tables to consider for booking?

    Hi Sara,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! The planning process can be just as fun as it is overwhelming! But, you are off to a great start by asking questions.

The numbers I keep in my head when planning are 180 and 60. We can start making advanced dining reservations 180 days prior to our stay and we can make Fast Pass+ selections 60 days prior to our visit when staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. As a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel guest, you can make those dining reservations starting on day 180 up to 10 days of your visit.

Having said that, we typically book our vacations about a year in advance and certainly prior to that 180 day mark. Before booking, I repeatedly check the Special Offers to see if there are any discounts available on Magic Your Way Packages for the dates of our visit. I also check with a local travel agent. While checking for discounts, I talk with my family to see which resort we prefer. Once I am ready to book, I put down a deposit to secure our package. There may be special offers that come out after you book. If so, I suggest that you call 407-939-5277 or speak with your travel agent (depending on how you booked the trip) to see if the newly released offer can be applied to your reservation.

Sara, once you have your package booked, create a My Disney Experience Account. Then, decide which parks you will visit on which days. At day 180, make dining reservations because it can be hard to walk in and quickly be seated in any restaurant at the Walt Disney World Resort. At day 60, definitely make your Fast Pass+ selections for attractions.

    Happy Planning!

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
    Donyell
