Hi! We are beginning to plan for a summer 2012 vacation. We'll have 6 possibly 7 adults and 3 children - ages 5, 2, and 1. We think we want to stay at a moderate resort. Can you recommend the best moderate resort for us, and how to start planning?

    Hi Katie!

Picking a Disney resort is one of the hardest parts of planning a trip! Since you've narrowed the choice to Moderate resorts, hopefully I can help you out!

My favorite resort in this category is Port Orleans FrenchQuarter. Our family really prefers the smaller size of this resort. After a long park day, its nice to know that everything you need is just a short walk away at your resort.

A couple of other great bonuses for Port Orleans French Quarter are the boat transportation over to Downtown Disney (great for meals, shopping, or even a trip to DisneyQuest) and the ability to use the pool and amenities at Port Orleans Riverside (since they are sister resorts). Having this option might be fun - if you're planning a day or two of downtime at your resort.

Port Orleans French Quarter recently went through a complete refurbishment too. One great addition to the resort are the queen-size beds that are brand new at the resort.

Plus, don't forget to sample some of the beignets at Port Orleans French Quarter - YUM!

There are two main components in planning a Disney trip: When to go & Where to stay. Once you've narrowed that down, things like dining reservations and planning your park days are next. Be sure to let the Moms Panel know if we can help with any of those details when you are ready!
