How do I begin planning our first trip to Disney. We have three boys, ages 5, 7, and 12. We are staying at Port Orleans and will be in the parks for four days in Feb 2018. How do I start making selections and plans? Thank you.

    Hi Kim,

The Rebel Forces will be thrilled to learn that you are bringing additional recruits to battle the Dark Side. Time is of the essence. We must plan accordingly!

Before you do anything, be sure you have created a My Disney Experience Account. Link your resort hotel reservation to this account. When you make dining reservations or Fast Pass+ selections, those will also be linked to this account.

At 180 days prior to our trip, I have our dining reservations booked and know which park we will visit for each day. If you do not have a Park Hopper ticket, you will need to plan carefully to make sure your dining reservations are not in two different parks in the same day. Whatever you do, make dining reservations for character meals. These provide such an easy way for your boys to meet the characters.

You must make your Fast Pass+ selections 60 days in advance of your trip. Make those selections at 7:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on day 60. To prepare, I always sit down with my family a few days before day 60 to look over the attractions we want to prioritize. I then create a list of priority attractions for each park. Know that at some theme parks, rides are tiered and grouped. For example, on Pandora at Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park, we can make a Fast Pass+ selection for Avatar Flight of Passage OR Na'vi River Journey. Your remaining two Fast Pass+ selections would include other rides and attractions at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Whatever you do, consider signing your young ones up for Jedi Training - Trials of the Temple at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Hurry, you must. Get to the park early. Peace we must have!

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
