We will bee staying at the Port Orleans Hotel and I wanted to know if there is a walkway to the Fort Wilderness Beach area or if we would have to take transportation there?

    Hi Cindy,

Walt Disney World is very large (about 40 square miles in total). Port Orleans and Fort Wilderness are quite a distance away from each other. There is no suitable walking path.

The best way to get from PO to FW is to make a transfer at the Magic Kingdom. First, hop on a bus from PO to the MK. Then at the MK, look at the dock area for the boat headed to Fort Wilderness. (There are signs above each dock.) The boat drops you right at the Fort Wilderness Beach. I'd leave about 45 minutes to an hour to make the trek.

If you're interested in walking to other resorts, Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter are accessible to each other on foot. And Fort Wilderness and the Wilderness Lodge have a pleasant walking path between them.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know if you have additional questions.
