Hi! Just got back from our first family trip and I am already starting to plan for next year. Spring break for us is in early April, and I was wondering what it’s like to attend the parks during a race weekend if we are not participating in the races?

Hello, Eliza! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I'm so excited to hear that you and your family had such a wonderful first visit to Walt Disney World Resort that you're already planning your 2020 vacation! My family and I are on our way home from our Spring Break trip, and I'm already looking forward to next year's, too. While this year's Star Wars Rival Run Weekend was in early April, next year's will be a little later--April 16-19, 2020. If those dates coincide with your Spring Break, never fear! You can still have a wonderful time at Walt Disney World Resort during a runDisney race weekend (even if you aren't participating in the races).

My family and I have visited Walt Disney World Resort during a variety of race weekends--sometimes participating in the 5K, sometimes the 10K, and sometimes the half marathon--but we've also been there when we weren't running at all. We've experienced lower crowds in the Parks at "rope drop" on race mornings, but the crowds have typically picked up after lunch. It's still been a pleasant experience, especially with dining reservations made well in advance and FastPass+ experiences booked up to 60 days before our official Walt Disney World Resort hotel stays. Taking advantage of those options is one way to ensure your family still has an awesome time (no matter the crowd levels).

Hopefully that answers your question, Eliza. Please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your next vacation to The Most Magical Place on Earth!
