We will be attending Disney World May 22-25 with our 8 year old son. It is the 2 year anniversary of our daughters death. She was 3 and his best friend. Do any of you know a way that we could make this special for him and include his sister?

    Welcome,

First, my heart goes out to you. I wish that I could have an answer that could possibly rise to this challenge. From one mom to another, my answer feels so small, but I am going to do my very best.

I have seen other parents celebrate the life of their precious children by bringing along an item to represent their presence. For example, there was a story recently about a mother who visited Magic Kingdom Park with a teddy bear that represented her little angel. She encouraged characters to interact with the teddy bear and brought that sweet bear everywhere. Is there a Princess that you identify as having commonalities with your daughter? Perhaps bring along a figure of that particular Princess for a real, phyical reminder of her sweet or feisty spirit.

Was your little Princess a lover of all things equestrian? Visit Tri-Circle-Ranch to visit with the horses. Your son might enjoy a wagon ride and you can have a peaceful moment as you wind through Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

What if your daughter can bring happiness to other children at Walt Disney World Resort? What I mean is that maybe your family could orchestrate random acts of kindness in memory of her. You could surprise another little girl with a balloon on Main Street U.S.A. or maybe buy a Mickey's Premium Ice Cream Bar for a child near you. Your whole family could participate in these small acts in her honor.

My thoughtful, fellow Disney Parks Moms Panelist, Nancy, suggested a balloon release for a special moment of remembrance.

I hope your son has an unforgettable Walt Disney World Resort vacation. For more ideas, check out some of these ideas for planning a vacation with a tween.

Wishing you many magical memories and sending you a big hug,

Meet the Panelist: Sally, Texas

"To all who come to this happy place, welcome." I am the lucky wife to my brave Prince and a stay-at-home mom to two bold and brilliant little girls; one a Jedi Padawan and the other a Princess. Joining the Disney Vacation Club meant that our family could travel to a "World of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy" as often as we could sneak away, so we do! I would be thrilled to sprinkle a little Pixie Dust on your next unforgettable vacation. Learn More About Sally
