We are arriving at WDW in early afternoon; staying at Carribbean Resort. Probably won't use park pass that first day due to time we'll finally get to our resort. What places can we go that don't require a park pass that would be fun for 2 14 year olds?

    Hi Kathleen,

Take those energetic 14-year-olds to Downtown Disney!  It's a great place to spend your first day at Walt Disney World, particularly if it is only a partial day.  If your 14-year-olds love to shop, then you can't do better than to spend time in the eclectic, fun shops here.  Or, if your teens prefer electronic games instead, they will love DisneyQuest.  My eleven-year-old discovered this place on our last vacation and we had a difficult time dragging him out of the building.  He can't wait to go back.  (Keep in mind that there is an admission fee for DisneyQuest, even if you only spend a partial day there.  There is no entrance fee to Downtown Disney).  There are wonderful restaurants at Downtown Disney too.

Another great cost-free option to consider for your first day is to enjoy the pools and amenities at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort.  My family often spends our first day of a Walt Disney World vacation gaining familiarity with the resort we will be calling home that week.  I bet that would be a magical way to spend your arrival day.

Wishing you a vacation sprinkled with extra pixie dust!
