Arriving on a Sun in May for 6 ngts. Flight lands at 10:30. Not sure how long it takes to get to and then get settled at POR. 2 adults and a 5yo girl. What park is best to see 1st? I read that MG on a Sunday is not a good place to start.

Hi Terri!  I'm so excited to hear that you are taking your first Walt Disney World Vacation and I hope you are taking advantage of Disney's Magical Express, variables that will effect your travel time is  waiting for a bus, the number of passengers, how many stops it will make before arriving at your resort. Generally allow 90 minutes for travel time when planning, I use this as an average because it has taken up two hours and sometimes it was much less.

Arrival day I typically  visit Hollywood Studios, explore other resorts or head over to Downtown Disney.  Hollywood Studios is a really good first day park to visit because it  doesn't take a full day to tour especially if your traveling with small children.  Some of the attractions are not child friendly, but if you do want to experience some of these attractions Disney has an excellent solution.  Rider Switch allows one parent to wait with the child(ren) while the other parent rides and then switches with the other member of their party.  Factors that will make the park more crowded is if it is having evening extra magic hours (typically are on Monday evenings) or Fantasmic! is showing.  Check the park hours calendar closer to your arrival date because all times are subject to change.

Another option is to skip the parks and tour your resort.  Disney's Resorts are beautifully detailed so check out your resort, spend a little time at the pool, do some shopping at Downtown Disney, and head to bed early to be refreshed for all the magic that awaits. Let me know if you have any more questions, I'm thrilled to help!
