hello, we are arriving to our room the first night of our vacation around 9pm. Is there anything we can do in the magic kingdom without a pass? I hate to buy passes that we could only use for 2 hrs, but at the same time don't want to sit in the room

    Hi, Robert!

The first night at Walt Disney World can be exhausting if you are set to arrive late at night, so you may reconsider once you get into your room at 9 p.m. (especially if you are delayed getting there.) On those nights, we go to bed early so that we can be at a park first thing in the morning, sometimes before dawn!

On the other hand, there is a lot that you can explore without having to enter a park at that hour, so consider an option that won't require you to use a full day's worth of a park ticket for just an hour or two. Downtown Disney, for example, would be the perfect place for you to get a bite to eat, shop, see a movie, bowl a game or two or even relax and have fun with live music in a few locations. You might want to head over to a monorail-area resort, have a bite to eat there, then head over to a lake-view vantage point from which you can see Wishes nighttime spectacular from across the lake. If you're staying at a Boardwalk area resort (or can get there) that area is very much alive at night, with restaurants, Boardwalk entertainment, a "lively piano bar" named Jellyrolls and Atlantic Dance Hall, a great over-21 nightclub that doesn't even OPEN until 9:00 p.m. You can even catch a bit of the pyrotechnics of Epcot's Illuminations from the bridge that crosses the waterway from Crescent Lake to Epcot's International Gateway. Be there by 9 p.m. for a lovely view of the fun.

Let me know which resort you'll call home while in Walt Disney World, and the date on which you'll check in; there may be even more for you to enjoy right near your own resort, too. I'd be happy to help!
