We will be arriving in Orlando ~5:25, so we'll probably get to OKW around 7. We plan on going to Magic Kingdom our first night (it closes at 11) but I'm just thinking food wise, would it be better to grab a QS at OKW or wait and grab something at MK?

    Hi Mariah!

I really love your question because I just debated a very similar circumstance two weeks ago when I was at Walt Disney World.

I used to have a tradition upon arrival where I would make a beeline over to the Magic Kingdom for a hot dog at Casey's Corner. For me, that was the official start of my Disney vacation. While I really enjoyed the feeling of setting foot in my resort hotel for the first time, there was something special about enjoying a hot dog at Casey's.

However, now that I have two young children, the game has changed a bit. My new tradition, after checking in, is to go over to the quick service restaurant in my hotel and get a meal to prevent any low blood sugar induced fussiness. (Mostly on my part...but for the children as well!)

Considering the time you plan to arrive, that might be the way for you to go as well. By the time you check in, get over to the Magic Kingdom, go through security, get through the main gates, pose for a picture in front of Cinderella's Castle....you might be pretty hungry by the time you actually get to sit down for a meal. By taking care of your meal before you venture out, and having a full tank, hopefully it'll make your first night in the Magic Kingdom even more enjoyable.

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

Save some room for a special dessert at the Magic Kingdom. My favorite is the Nutella and Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in Liberty Square. It has fruit on it, so I tell myself that it's a healthy dessert!

I hope that helps! If you should have any other questions, please feel free to let me know and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
