We are arriving in Orlando at 11 am. Not purchasing park hopper but would like to get a 1/2 a day in somewhere for my 4 year old little girl to get a taste of disney. What should we do? The rest of the week we have 2 full MK days, 1 AK, 1 HS day.First time

    Hi Elizabeth,

It sounds like you have a great vacation planned!  You'll be arriving in Orlando at 11 a.m.  I'm not sure where you're staying, but if you're taking Magical Express to a WDW Resort, you most likely won't arrive at your destination until almost 1:00 p.m. by the time you've debarked the plane, caught the bus, and stood in line at the check-in counter.  There are a couple of options for how to spend this first day.

You might consider adding an extra day to your passes and spend the first day at Epcot.  There are a lot of fun things for your 4 year old to do.  The Seas with Nemo and Friends is a great place to spend time.  Journey Into Imagination is also a highlight for the pre-school set.  I have a 5 year old girl, and she love touring the countries - just about every one has a princess or other beloved character who greets guests.  If you haven't booked a character dinner for this vacation, consider Akershus where you can dine with Disney Royalty.  Also, Garden Grill is a great place to go to dine with Mickey.

If you want to play things a little more low key, skip the parks on the first day.  Most four year old are happy to take a swim in the resort pool.  You could also head to Downtown Disney for some shopping.  Trust me, it's not your run of the mill shopping area.  Once Upon a Toy and Goofy's Candy Company are enough to keep my kids occupied, and that's just the beginning.  End the evening with a character meal: 1900 Park Fare and Chef Mickey's are both excellent choices.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!
