    Michael Asked

Arriving October 17, 2013 at 12pm, leaving October 25, 2013 at 2pm. First time at WDW. Travelling with my husband and 4 yr old son. I have so many questions! What can we expect for weather and crowds? Also, Itinerary help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Michael! Looks like you are going to have a great week at Disney this fall and it is one of my favorite times of year to be there!

Weather is changing at this time of year so unfortunately you will have to watch it closely right up to the time you depart. They can still get a hot spell or it can start to feel more like fall in the evenings so a wrap is necessary. It used to be that this was a slow time at Disney but with the Food and Wine Festival and the various Disney runs held on property this has become a more crowded span but certainly not unbearable.

I suggest you do not rush out to a park on your first or your last day. Get to know your resort, swim, and perhaps make a dining reservation at Downtown Disney for the first night. On your departure day sleep late and pack and check out at 11 which will be just about the time you would have to head to the airport. If you can grab your last lunch at the resort.

Picking days for each park is not a science but instead a guess. I would avoid Epcot on the weekends by all means with the Food and Wine Festival going on. During the week the crowds are thinner and better behaved. If you have park hopper options with your tickets you can enjoy early morning Extra Magic hours at one park and then head over to a less crowded park for the rest of the day. Since you have a four year old you might consider nap time during the afternoon and return to parks for dinner and entertainment.

If possible purchase tickets for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party during your stay. Bring costumes for the family and enjoy a fun filled evening in the Magic Kingdom. Your son will love every minute of it beyond the candy that is given out. There are so many other things to do at Disney beyond the parks so be sure and ask us again. Let us help you with all your planning questions!
