We're arriving in the morning and will be at the Art of Animation resort by lunch time. Is it worth it to get a two day pass or can we amuse ourselves (2 adults and 9 year old) at the resort and just do the Magic Kingdom for a full day the next day?

Hello Robin!  Thanks for visiting us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

This is a great question and if you asked several moms on the panel, I am sure you would get several different answers.  The way my family does a Walt Disney World vacation, we never visit a park on arrival day.  I think no matter how you travel, it is always tiring and we want to be fresh and ready for the parks the next day!  We love to check out the resort we are staying at, maybe even take a swim if it is warm out, and head to Downtown Disney for some shopping.  Downtown Disney is very fun and my family can't get enough of it.  We find heading there, eating lunch at Earl of Sandwich and doing some shopping is a great way to start off a Walt Disney World vacation.  However, if you are only going to be at Walt Disney World for 2 days, you may want to try to fit in as much as possible.  If that is the case, then a 2 day pass would work for you.  I would suggest checking out Disney's Hollywood Studios for that day, if that is what you decide to do.  My 7 year old loves that park.  There are several fun rides like The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, Toy Story Mania! and Star Tours - The Adventure Continues that your 9 year old might really enjoy.  If you are planning on visiting a park on your arrival day, I would suggest trying to make your FastPass+ selections for the afternoon so you will be sure to enjoy 3 attractions of your choice with little wait time.  FastPass+ selections can be made up to 60 days in advance for Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel.

Art of Animation Resort is such a fun place to stay.  If I can help you with anything else, please feel free to come back and ask me.
