We are arriving on Monday, and our daughter has type 1 diabetes. When we came last time, we received a pass that allowed us to miss a good part of many lines on rides. I can't remember how to get one and wondered if we needed to plan in advance.

    Hi Jennifer!

Thanks for asking me a question!  What you are asking about is called a Guest Assistance Card (GAC) and you can get one for your daughter at Guest Relations in any of the theme parks in Walt Disney World. Typically, Guest Relations are located in the front of each park. For example in the Magic Kingdom, Guest Relations is located in the Town Hall which is on the left just as you enter Main Street USA if you are facing Cinderella Castle. The Guest Assistance Card will enable your daughter and up to five other members in your party access to alternate entrances to attractions and on most rides will let you in without having to stand up in long lines or walk long distances. The Guest Assistance Card is good in all of the four theme parks of Walt Disney World for the length of your stay, so you only have to get it once per vacation. You will need to present the Guest Assistance Card to the Cast Members at the attractions (typically you go to the Fast Pass entrance of a ride) and they will instruct you where to go.

Keep in mind that a Guest Assistance Card does not guarantee you immediate access to a ride or an attraction, but it helps immensely for those guests with special needs. Also be sure to ask at Guest Relations about access to refrigerators (located right at the Guest Relations site) to help keep your daughter's insulin cool while you are in the parks.

I hope that your whole family has an extra magical time on your next trip to Walt Disney World!
