We are arriving in Feb. 2013. What character dining spots are must do's with boys age 8 & 4? They do not care for anything 'girlie' and they consider Pooh to be too young for them. And it will be the 8 year old's birthday.

    Hi Laura!
I love to dine with the characters, but as my boys have gotten older I quite frequently hear "Mom I'm not a baby." My boys are still eagerly waiting on the day where the girls have to sit through a boys meal as they have been subject to numerous princess meals.
Chef Mickey's serving breakfast and dinner is located in The Contemporary resort so right away it is already a hit.  Children, especially my boys, are fascinated with the monorail that runs through it.  Chef Mickey's is high energy fun where you can meet with Mickey and pals, the food here is really good and much better than your standard buffet.
Several character dining experiences are only available for breakfast, at the top of my picks is 'Ohana located in the Polynesian resort, the characters include Mickey, Stitch, Lilo, and Pluto.  This is by far one of my families favorite character meals and the only location you can dine with Stitch.  Another good option for a character breakfast is Cape May Cafe located in The Beach Club which is a buffet that features Minnie and pals.  Tusker House located in Animal Kingdom rounds out the list of the non-princess meals, this meal is also a buffet featuring Mickey and the gang who are around for breakfast and lunch.
There are a few meals that don't feature characters, but are just as much fun.  Whispering Canyon cafe includes horse races, jail time and hollers for ketchup that make this a fun experience for any age.  Also the Sci-fi Dine In is another fun one where you are able to eat in a convertible while watching corny clips on the big screen.  The atmosphere in both of these make them fun places to dine when a character meal is not an option.
    I hope this helps!
    Enjoy your "Disney Time!"
