We're arriving at around 5pm on Sat, May 17 (1st visit!), staying at WLR. What do you suggest we do upon our arrival that would involve taking the water taxi ? My kids (aged 7 & 4) are very excited about that !

The water transportation from the Wilderness Lodge can take you to three places: Fort Wilderness, the Contemporary Resort and ... (drumroll please) ... the Magic Kingdom.

I just checked the parks calendar and the Magic Kingdom is open late on May 17 -- till 11:00 p.m., so you could certainly head over there and work in some rides and dinner. I personally am always wiped out after plane travel and like to get the kids to bed so we can start fresh with park touring in the early morning when the crowd level is lower. If that's the case with you too, you could try to get reservations at Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary hotel. Mickey and his pals greet guests there at a buffet dinner. I think it's a great way to get in the Disney spirit without using up a day of park tickets. Another option would be to try to see the Hoop Dee Doo Revue at Fort Wilderness. Again, this is fun start to your vacation without using park tickets.

But my guess is that your kids are going to want to take that water launch right up to the gates of the Magic Kingdom. Hope you all have a great trip!
