Hi there, we arrive midday and have reservations that night in Downtown Disney. How much time should we allow for bus transport? Thanks!

Hello, Sue! Only one more week to go - how can you contain your excitement?

I am unsure if you are asking about the time it will take to travel by bus from Orlando International Airport to your Walt Disney World Resort hotel, or if you are asking how long to allow for transportation from a Walt Disney World Resort hotel to the Downtown Disney Area via bus. I will answer both for you so I am sure you will arrive on time for your delicious meal.

On average, from the time our plane's wheels touch down in Florida from the time our toes step into our resort room - it has taken roughly two hours. Time is spent waiting to get off the aircraft, bathroom breaks, retrieving luggage (if you are not using the in-room luggage delivery service Disney offers), and walking to the Magical Express area. There is also sometimes a bit of a wait to board your motor-coach. Once on Disney's Magical Express, to your resort is approximately 30-45 minutes depending on where you are staying and if there are stops at other resorts before yours. Once you arrive at your resort, you will check in and head to your room.

The rule of thumb is to allow 90 minutes from your hotel to arrive in time for your dining reservation. My family follows that rule every time and we have never been close to being late for a reservation. Simply make sure you are at your resort bus stop at least 90 minutes before your Advanced Dining Reservation. This will give you time if you need to wait for a bus, and will also give you plenty of time to walk to the restaurant once you have arrived at the Downtown Disney Area.

Wishing you and your family a magical vacation, Sue!

Hi, I’m Rachel! I am a “boy mom” to two rowdy little men at home and married to my high school sweetheart. I am fortunate enough that my prince charming loves all things Disney just as much as I do! For me, planning a trip to Walt Disney World can be just as magical as being there. It brings our family together as we dream, plan, and count down the days. I would be honored to help plan your visit and share in your family’s very own magic! Learn More About Rachel
