    Kenneth Asked

We arrive on June 12 around noon. We have ADR at Whispering Canyon Cafe at 6:30. We are staying at CBR. Would we have enough time to check in and do a quick Epcot or downtown disney visit? Or are we better off hanging out at the pool for the day? Thanks

    Hi Kenneth,

In theory, you may have enough time to visit Downtown Disney or Epcot, but there are several factors which will determine that. In addition, you need to decide if it's worth the stress of waiting on buses and worrying about getting back in time or if you want to start your vacation just relaxing.

If your flight arrives around noon and you are taking the Magical Express, it could take you several hours to get to your resort. Based on that, you should plan on arriving 2:00pm or so. Granted this can vary greatly depending on crowds, etc. However, I always plan for about 2 hours from arrival in Orlando to arrival at my resort. I've had it take 1 hour and I've had it take 3.

Additionally, you should budget an hour of travel time on Disney buses from your resort to a park or Downtown Disney and back. This is because the buses come approximately every 20 minutes. Again, you could be ahead of schedule if it comes right away, but you may have also just missed a bus and need to wait a bit.

So doing a backward timeline, if your reservation is at 6:30 and you check in at 6:20, you would need to be on a bus bound for the Wilderness Lodge by 5:20 if you are heading there from a park. Buses do not travel from resort to resort. So if you are heading there from the Caribbean Beach Resort, you'll either need to head to a park or Downtown Disney and transfer to a bus bound to Wilderness Lodge or just take a cab. With this in mind, if you check in at 2:00pm and hop on a bus bound for Epcot or Downtown Disney, you would have a couple hours to play before you need to be on a bus for dinner. However, if you go to dinner straight from your resort, give yourselves more time to get there. We usually take a cab from resort to resort to save time.

The transportation can be hard to understand, so please send me a follow up question if you need clarification,
