Mom With Kids After Run

Hi, Moms! We arrive Friday for 15 nights! :) Since time not so much an issue- what do you suggest for a day of indoor activities- TS Hanna looms... Do any of the deluxe resorts have activities indoors where we could just crash for the day? Other ideas?

    Virginia,

Having just visited Disney during tropical storm Fay, I understand your concern!  Thankfully we were there for 2 weeks as well, so we were still able to have a great vacation in spite of a week of rain!

A few of our favorite indoor activities:

    • Innoventions halls in Epcot (this is actually a great park to visit on a rainy day - lots of indoor rides and attractions)
    • Less 'glitzy' attractions at the Magic Kingdom, like Hall of Presidents, Country Bear Jamboree, etc.  This park would be my second-best choice for a rainy day
    • Disney Quest
    • shopping at Downtown Disney (yes, you'll still have to pop in and out of shops in the rain, but it's a great way to spend a rainy day productively picking up souvenirs, so you can spend every sunny moment out in the parks)
    • exploring other resorts.  This is a great time to see what else is out there.  Maybe grab the monorail and ride around to all three deluxe resorts on the line.  Each has a unique atmosphere, and offerings like the music in the Grand Floridian, art gallery at the Polynesian, shops and fun arcade at the Contemporary.
    • call Disney Dining and see if there's a dinner show available!  Hoop-Dee-Doo, in particular, is fantastic - and indoors!
    • Kids activities in the resorts.  We were at the Wilderness Lodge for part of our trip and every afternoon the kids' club there had arts and crafts (and some games) for the kids.
    • And if all else fails, you could always catch a movie, as my husband and brother-in-law did one afternoon!  There is an AMC movie theater in Downtown Disney.

Honestly though, our favorite course of action is to throw on the ponchos and head to the parks anyway.  The rides rarely close, and the crowds are much thinner when it rains.  And we got some great (and funny!) pictures to boot!
