Our arrival is 6-13-10, staying at AK Lodge, how early can we arrive? We were planning to use the 13th as our first day of 4 at the parks. Is this a good idea or should we arrive on the 13th and use the 14th as our first day?

Jambo Lee! First of all, can I say I wish I were checking in to Animal Kingdom Lodge on the 13th?? It's one of my favorite resorts. It's got that great cozy feeling, with the added treat of seeing animals on their very own savanna!

The official check-in time is 3pm, however, that is only to actually get into your room. You can check in early, get your Key to the World cards, leave your luggage with Bell Services and go enjoy the parks. In fact, the front desk will ask for your cell phone number and you can receive a text or automated call with your room number when it's ready! Then when you return to the hotel, your cards will work in your room door. You may also get lucky and your room could be available before 3pm too!

As for whether you should make the 13th or 14th your first day, there are two things to consider:
First, unless you have the no expiration option on your park tickets, they are only good for 14 days from date of first use, so if you are leaving on the 16th, you'll have an extra day that' will go to waste if you start using your tickets on the 14th. If you are staying till the 17th, or have the no expiration option on your tickets, that won't be an issue.

Second, assuming that 'wasting a day' is not an issue with your tickets, it's really up to how you and the members of your party feel. If you are arriving after a long journey and just want to chill out by the pool, lobby or head to Downtown Disney, you can do that and save your first day of passes. If you are ready to jump into the action, you can check in and head right over to the parks and attractions. Even if you arrive after noon, there's still plenty of time to enjoy rides and more in the parks on your first day - so personally, I say go for it!

If you have any further questions about your tickets or anything else that I didn't touch on here, please feel free to ask another question! Have a wonderful time and enjoy the view! ~Suzannah
