Arr. MCO @ 10:10pm, ME runs til 11:00pm if delayed do they extend hrs? Can we claim our own bags and have them on coach w/ us? Don't really want to be asleep & have bags brought to us late. Also flight leaves 6:40 AM 8/9 will ME run that early?

The Disney Welcome Center in Terminal B, Level 1 remains open for delayed flights.

You may go to Baggage Claim to get your luggage before proceeding to the Welcome Center. In this case, you will not affix the yellow Disney's Magical Express (DME) tags to your bags. Do not forget to guarantee your room for late arrival so the resort knows to expect you in the late evening.

On the day prior to your departure, you will receive a notice in your room from DME. Mine was slipped under my door. It will state your resort departure time.

I just used DME yesterday afternoon. At about 20 minutes before my departure time, I arrived the “Disney’s Magical Express Bus Stop”. There will be a sign out front of your resort. If you are unsure as to where to wait, simply ask a Bellman.

Once the bus arrived, you will hand your DME voucher or letter to the Bus Driver. The driver will load luggage underneath the bus, including bulky carry-on items. You will then take a seat on the comfortable bus.

The bus was very efficient, for example:
My pick up time was 3:10 p.m.
Departed Beach Club at 3:13 p.m.
    Arrived Boardwalk 3:17 p.m.
    Departed Boardwalk 3:20 p.m.
    Arrived Caribbean Beach 3:29 p.m.
    Departed Caribbean Beach 3:35 p.m.
    Arrived Orlando’s International Airport at 4 p.m.

There was a sign on the bus that stated “Gratuity permitted for exceptional guest service”.
I tipped accordingly since I was flying Southwest and had to bring 1 suitcase to be checked with me, plus a carry-on.

The one concern with your early flight departure of 6:40 a.m. is that the bus will likely be picking you up around 3:40 a.m. Even if you are flying out on an airline that participates in Resort Airline Check In, you will not be able to use this convenience. Therefore, you will have your luggage put on the bus and have to check in your items when you arrive the airport.

However, you will get a Magical Express ride to the airport.
