Hi Ari! We are WDW pros, but are planning our FIRST ever DLR vacation. We want to see Carsland, but also want to go when crowds are low. Where to stay (we're not comitted to staying at a Disney resort)? When to go? What to do?! How many days? Thanks! A

I just got back from a fantastic trip to Walt Disney World and saw your question. Great question for me to answer. While I always am amazed by the sheer size and beauty of Walt Disney World, the fact that Disneyland Resort is about to open Cars Land this summer is simply the coolest thing ever. You and your family will walk right into Radiator Springs to visit Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater, Sally and the rest of the Cars. While I enjoy the parks all year round (there are always new experiences for my family), I think you might really get a thrill by visiting this fall. We have these spectacular holiday overlays including Haunted Mansion Holiday, featuring Jack Skellington, and you can experience  the terrifying transformation of Space Mountain into Ghost Galaxy. As for where to stay, having just returned from Orlando at the stunning Animal Kingdom Lodge, let me say I will always be staying on property. Not only was the service spectacular, but the theming, the food and the courtesy of the staff was excellent. Obviously, the same can be found in Anaheim too. The fact that you can walk to Downtown Disney from Disney's Grand Californian Hotel is less then five minutes is awesome. While I have many more great reasons to stay on site, I'll give you the best one for me. My little girls love to run and play all day at the parks. When there little feet grow tired, the walk from the parks to our room is really quick and we can all be settled in our comfy room talking about the great memories we created while watching the other guests heading home. I think that a reasonable vacation stay at the Disneyland Resort for first timers like yourselves would be approximately four or possibly five days the parks and resorts. Have a magical vacation.
