In April, we will be at staying at the Grand Floridian. Its our 5th trip so we want to do things other than the parks. How do we get to Fort Wilderness for the nightly campfire? How do we book canoeing there? Any other ideas for off-beat things to do?

Hi Jennifer, and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Your fifth trip to Walt Disney World can be just as exciting as your first, and it's a great chance to try something new.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground has tons of experiences to try! To get there from Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, take a boat or monorail to the Magic Kingdom, then board the boat to Fort Wilderness. From there, you'll take an internal bus to the Meadow Trading Post for the Chip 'n' Dale Campfire Sing-A-Long. Your hotel concierge can give you times for the show. To book a canoe, just stop at the hut when you arrive at the Fort Wilderness marina. Or you can try adventures like horseback riding, carriage rides, boat rentals, even archery lessons!

You can also go for a unique dining experience at Fort Wilderness, like the rip-roarin', Western-themed Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue dinner show, or Mickey's Backyard BBQ.

For even more high-octane fun, head to the marina at Disney's Contemporary Resort and visit Sammy Duvall's Watersports Centre to rent a jet ski or go parasailing (yes, parasailing at Walt Disney World!).

And if you haven't already, do check out some of the new shopping and dining options at Downtown Disney as it transitions to Disney Springs. You can go bowling, ride in a floating car or of course, take in a show at La Nouba.

I hope these ideas help spark a new adventure for you, Jennifer. Please visit us again if you have any more questions, and have a blast on your Walt Disney World vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
